Ok folks, what is the fastest anyone has received their biometric appointment and then their 171H. Here is an other Sunday of fasting and praying for another miracle!
I'm not sure it's fair to compare 2011 to fall of 2008 but we turned in our 1-600 on 11/24 went in without an appointment for fingerprints a few days later, were approved on 12/1 got our 1st 117H on 12/10 misspelled, the 2nd on 12/12 again misspelled and on 12/15 had everything ready to go the appostile office. I understand it's been much slower this year. If you go to Holbrooks Blog (It's All Good) you can read about how long it's taken them and I think it's been three months? I know that's not what you want to hear, and little did I know we moved so fast compared to so many others but I would say it was about three weeks for us even with all the misspelling.
Sooo. You are not going to want to wait for an appointment. Call USCIS and see if you can get someone to pull your application and put you in the computer. Tell them this is extemely Important as the Ukrainian govt is stopping adoptions in June while they revamp their system. After you are in their system, go to the biometrics place w/o an appointment and they will fingerprint you. 48 hours later get on the phone to the USCIS and try to get someone to process your app. And email you the approval. This probably won't work so then you need to ask to speak to a supervisor. Tell them your hurry and that you need the approval emailed to you. If they won't do anything, call Sen. Hatch. DO NOT wait!!! I was way too patient with them. That's my advice. Call me if you need help.
When you get to needing the 171H, Officer Mock is the only one there that cares. You can call and try to request her. Make sure you tell her that the Youth Sevices Ministry in Kiev closes on June 12 and you NEED this FAST!!! Also, some of them will tell you that they cannot email that paper to you but they absolutely can. Just make sure you have it notarized as a CERTIFIED COPY of an original document or it will not be accepted. Good luck!! Sending prayers!!!!!
Hum...we sent our stuff in right after conference last October and got our golden ticket on Nov 18th. We'd have had it at least a week faster if we'd had the lady email it to us, but we didn't.
Honestly, the USCIS is way, way behind and not moving fast at all. If you want to get yours done fast, do what Nan said. There are very few people there that care at all what you are trying to do. We also contacted Senator's Hatch's office and they are the reason we had ours done so fast. I went in and did my fingerprints without waiting for an appointment. I had my SIM# number. Others had their SIM# and were not in the system but called over to the USCIS and were able to convince someone to put them in the system to get in there enough for the fingerprint people to take them. I have more information about it if you want to call me. (Kim Golling)
I did a lot of praying and fasting too. It worked but I had to do everything in my power first and that meant a lot of persistent phone calls and a lot of running around.
